~ what it's all about

I don't actually consider myself a comic geek, though perhaps just by creating this blog I betray myself with a too-narrow definition of the phrase. I've always loved comics, but my tastes have been likewise narrow ~ always inclined to the horror genre, not much into the superheroes in tights.

I especially read and collected the two series represented prominently here: Ghost Rider and Swamp Thing, but after the comic bust in the 1990s, I lost interest in the industry for a long while, left home, and left my books behind.

and why it's here ~

Recently I have been reunited with my comics and my delight in rereading them prompted me to share my geeky enthusiasm. If you are a fan of these series, I welcome you, hope you enjoy my commentary, and I encourage your comments in return. If you're not a fan and came here by accident or serendipity, stay for the flashy covers and other art at the very least ~ there's magnificence in these books.

Lastly, I really am a fan. If my comments here are ofttimes irreverent, consider them in the spirit of lovingly  denigrating a guilty pleasure.

The two comic books featured on this page, Saga of the Swamp Thing no. 19 and Marvel Team-up no. 91 were my introductions to both of the main series featured on this site, so they occupy a special place in my heart.
